A Real Love Story

Others have spoken about the story line, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but I want to talk about the impression the story left me with, The story of Vaughn and Trenyce is one that had me thinking about the characters long after I finished reading the story. Yes, it's that good. I love the depth Ms. Brown gave each character, and most especially the main character Vaughn. Like all of us he was multi-dimensional with many layers, flawed, so real. Their relationship had my emotions tied in knots because Ms. Brown rarely takes the story the way you expect. I enjoyed the conversations Trenyce had with the other female characters, reminiscent of my own heart to hearts with my sister. I could see Trenyce's daughter clearly in my mind's eye,loving and speaking truth as only a child can. Ms. Brown also gave us a peek into the lives of the grateful and unspoiled rich and famous. Something you don't too often read about. Ms. Brown not only gave us a tender, sweet love story, but she gave us a peek into the lives of people, real people like you and me with real issues, and at the end, real hope for a bright future. Thanks, Ms. Brown for sharing your gift with us.

It Is Possible To Live Through A Tragedy

This is such an inspiring and entertaining and realistic novel. CHICKI BROWN writes about Vaughn Breland, a handsome movie star. Vaughn suffers many major injuries after a car accident. Thankfully, he discovers a wonderful Physical Therapist named Trenyce. Trenyce is divorced. She has one little girl named Zahra. It is very hard not to fall in love with Zahra. She's smart and adorable. Ain't To Proud To Beg takes place in Colorado, Telluride. Before the end of the book there is a great trip to Hollywood, California where Vaughn works as an actor.
I became most preoccupied with Vaughn's recovery. I wondered how in the world is it possible to sustain a persistent good attitude and the will power to believe that you're only broken for a time not for the rest of your life. Sure, Vaughn has his bad days. Mostly his patience, growing kindness overwhelm the days of irritability.
I also liked reading a romance involving an injured guy. So often the heroes in romances her perfect with just painful emotional events from their past like a broken marriage, a best friend's disloyalty and/or the fear of commitment. Vaughn's problems are uniquely written about by Chicki Brown. I also became very involved with the court case involving Trenyce and her ex-husband Bradford. Each episode in the novel is emotional but not overly fantastic. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
The story is told from different character viewpoints. However, there is no introduction to a new character by way of their name. I had to just be on my p's and q's always ready to spot the new voice. Also, it seemed strange that not one of Vaughn's many women are given a name. We just know he has been a womanizer. Otherwise, this is definitely a novel not to be missed. I had trouble putting it down. I enjoyed the visit to California. The hotels and places seemed so real. Now I want to visit Hollywood. Also, loved the fact that a male figure didn't mind, truly enjoyed, the child in the book. So often it's the woman who falls in love with the child and not the other way around. Chicki Brown has the ability to make you think while your enjoying her book. I must mention the friendships in the novel. Friendship plays a big role for Trenyce and Vaughn. Without these friends during this time of turmoil there would have been no way to make it across the troubled waters they faced. Each character gives something they have available to help them get back to their normal life. Sontae and Devon help in so many ways. They were a wonderful couple to meet in the novel. Bradford? made me pray that men like him who father children are in the minority and not in the majority. Ain't To Proud To Beg would make a good book club pick. I promise ; There is no way to run out of stimulating conversation.smashwords

Excellent Read as Usual by Ms. Brown

I think I've read every book by Ms. Brown and I was not disappointed with this one. The love story is so well written that you can feel the love jump off the pages. Treat yourself and take a little time to enjoy this wonderful story.
