As a trumpeter for over 45 years (I started when I was 10), I've learned some things about playing a wind instrument that I would like to share with other musicians. 
Several years ago, I became interested in personal fitness, and began to experiment with muscle development as it related to playing the trumpet. As a result, I developed a set of specific exercises that directly work the embouchure muscles that are of particular interest to players of wind instruments. 
After several years of developing these straightforward and simple concepts, I am pleased to offer them to my fellow musicians for the first time.
The result of my research is my book, "How To Improve Your Chops Without Playing A Note." 
The common sense approach of this e-book has the potential to revolutionize the performance of many players by allowing for highly efficient and effective embouchure development to take place outside of the practice room.

About the Author
David Boe is a trumpet performer, teacher and author. He lives in Portland, Oregon, where he has held the position of Principal Trumpet with Portland's Jewish Community Orchestra since 1998, and has played lead trumpet with the Carroll Raaum Swing Orchestra since 2006.

best trick ever

I have been playing trombone for 25 years; I also work a full time desk job
and practicing on my lunch hours is not that easy; for me these exercises are
the difference between struggling and having fun playing!

After doing this exercise for just 2 days, (about 20 reps) my stamina increased
noticibly, and at the end of my next gig I still had power.

I have buzzed mouthpieces for years and even learned to buzz without a mouthpiece,
but more than any single aspect of horn practicing this method can change what's possible
in short order!

Versatile concept

As an oboist, I was intrigued and bought the book just out of curiosity. I've been doing the exercises for a few weeks and have noticed improvement in my playing stamina, just in time for all of my holiday rehearsals and concerts. I have modified it, however, to accommodate my oboe embouchure. I alternate between what the author has suggested for brass players and the embouchure I use. I have noticed that this helps me with flexibility and strengthens more facial muscles.

A great excercise

I have been practicing the exercise described in this book for several months now and find it to be incredibly useful during the periods in which I am unable to play my horn. After about two weeks of practicing with this exercise multiple times a day, I was able to play lead trumpet with unually strength without the usual exhaustion. I would strongly recommend this book to any trumpet player that finds it sometimes difficult to practice as much as they wish they could.

Finally, the diet book I've been searching for. No cooking (except for microwave)----I hate to cook and I'm a bad cook. More important, a simple, non-exotic menu where you don't have to travel to a foreign country for ingredients. No 20 ingredients for a recipe. Also, there's just a few pages of info and instruction. The vast majority of the book is a simple meal plan for each of the 90 days. And if you don't like something, the authors offer substitutes.

Before you spend your money:
1. This is a diet for smaller, older, inactive people. There's also a 1500-calorie no cooking book for others.

2. Dinner always is a frozen and microwavable food. These contain a high level of sodium so it is vital that you check with your doctor.

I've gained 5lbs since I began looking for a suitable diet book. I'll update this in 90 days with my results.

A wonderful diet, easy to use and it works!

I’ve been on this diet with my sister for 43 days. So far I’ve lost 18 pounds and my sister 16 pounds. Both of us are very busy and don’t cook much. So this is perfect for us and I like the diet so much I just bought a copy for myself.

I’m no nutritionist, but in my opinion the diet provides enough fruits and veggies. Most breakfasts are fruit juice, cereal with a banana and raisins; one of the daily snacks is usually fruit; and then there is this huge salad at dinner plus whatever veggies are in the frozen entrée.

All in all this is a wonderful diet, easy to use and it works! My sister has reached her weight goal. I still have a ways to go. I’ll try to provide an update when I reach my weight goal or in 90 days.

Fortunately, the Bible contains a chapter, sometimes known as The Love Chapter (I Corinthians 13) that describes exactly what this ultimate type of love looks like in practice.

This series of lessons looks at each of those components of Agape love in detail. Each lesson includes a short commentary along with study questions appropriate for both individual and group study.

I guess  you really shouldn't have favorites when it comes to the Bible. After all, the whole book is God's word. But I admit that this is a personal favorite. Commonly called the "love" chapter, I Corinthians 13 gives the best definition of Love there is. It is also a beautiful passage of scripture. I have performed it several times as an interpretive reading and even now, when I read it, I can't help but read it outloud.

An interesting story related to this book. When I was preparing the original Bible study series upon which this is based, I went to a local Christian bookstore and asked if they had any books about Agape love. The clerk took me to the marriage and family section. I tried to explain that I was referring to the type of unconditional love that Christians should have for everyone. He just stared at me and said, "I don't think we have anything like that."

On a whim, I asked him if he had anything about demons and the occult. He brightened up and took me to an entire bookcase full of materials on the subject. I found it sad that the store had no books on the love Christ commanded of us, but had so many books about dealing with demons. I have a strong feeling if we were better at the loving part, we wouldn't have as much trouble with the demons.

About the Author
Terri Main has taught Bible studies for more than 40 years. She began teaching before she was out of high school. She has published more than 30 Bible study guides. A trained educator, Main uses a discovery approach in her Bible teaching. She provides some direct information as a background, but then challenges the serious Bible student to go further. They are asked to search the scripture and respond to study questions. 

"I love teaching the Bible," says Main. "I especially love it when I see that light go off in someone's eyes telling me they have had a sudden insight, not so much from what I said as from what they discovered as they search the Word for themselves."Main currently teaches Bible Studies on Facebook and continues to write. "Writing and teaching... It doesn't get any better than that."

This book helped me to dig deeper into understanding the love of God. I have corrected certain aspects of agape that I misunderstood. I took one part a day, I have enhanced my love walk. I will read it again and again. I am working too improve all of my relationships. I am already seeing fruit.

Great addition to a series full of suspense and romance!

First let me say that you really MUST read the first book in the series before reading this: The Edge of Courage: Red Team Book 1.
Shattered Valor is not a stand alone book. Trust me, you will not regret it!

The Edge of Courage left us with a cliff hanger of Ty sitting on a ledge, in a pit full of rattlesnakes. Whoa! The wait to read Ty's story was near torture for me. As soon as I received the memo of the book coming out, I dropped the series I was in to pick this series back up again. It's that good. I even read Rocco and Mandy's story to get myself caught up again before I started Shattered Valor. So glad I did that! I will always love their story. You get even more of it woven into Ty's story, even with updates on Zavi!

Ty's story is one that will certainly have you in tears. There are monsters even in the 'real world'. The emotions that Ty revealed were sometimes almost too much to process. I was in tears quite a few times but I also laughed, A LOT! The banter between the guys is spot on! Typical guy stuff! Lots of action and suspense to keep you reading and hoping for the best. There are many surprises to the story that will keep you reading. I don't want to divulge too much information or spoil the story for anyone.

Eden (Eddie) is Ty's love interest. You got an idea of what she was like in the first book when he met her at the bar. She is spunky, honest and not afraid to run headfirst into what seems like a train wreck waiting to happen. Yet, she is sweet, kind and extremely loving. She is the perfect fit for Ty, just what he needs and visa versa. I love love love that Tank is not only a service dog but a bully breed shown in the way they should be; smart, loving and devoted dogs!! Kudos, Elaine!

There are so many dynamics and characters to this series that you do have to pay attention to details but Elaine does a great job of making those details easy to remember. Emotion practically drips off the pages and will leave you wanting more.

Great character development has certainly made me eager to read not only Kit's story but many of the others as well. Much is already developed about Kit and his past in the first two books so I can't wait for his piece of the puzzle to come out in the spring. Hurry, Elaine! lol
Getting to know the supporting characters a little more in each book is fun! Val certainly has me intrigued with that shopping trip and resulting black eye (hilarious!!!). I am hoping, however, that it is Kelan we read about after Kit!

Love the Red Team!

**I got this book from the author for an honest review.**

I am going to admit I played the stalker roll with Elaine. I couldn't wait to read Ty's book especially because of the ending of the first in the book in this series. Elaine left us hanging on a ledge. Literally! So I did what any fan obsessed reader does, hound Goodreads, Twitter, and the author's site for any information on the book I can find. I finally saw that Elaine was planning on releasing the book towards the end of November and couldn't wait to read it. Forward to a few weeks later, I was driving when Elaine emailed me to see if I wanted to review Ty's book. I was doing a very awkward happy dance in the driver's seat that got me more than one wth are you doing look. Lol. When I got home, I immediately stopped reading my current read to start this book. Well, I couldn't have been more pleased!

The first book in the series, The Edge of Courage, was such a great book, I knew the second was going to be just as good or even better. Well Elaine blew me away with the amount of emotional depth that was written into Ty's book. We are left at the end of the first book knowing a little about Ty and his precarious relationship with his father but not a lot. Then something happens to Ty and we are left wondering what his fate will be for the second book o_O Thankfully, everything turns out well and he makes it out a little banged up but intact nonetheless. He manages to meet up with one of the women he met at a bar in town that plays host to a bunch of unfriendlies, and quickly discovers that her friends are hurt and need to be taken to the hospital. After making contact with his team, he helps get them to the hospital where he meets up with his team. Everyone is relieved he made it out of his situation alive and kicking. The mood quickly switches to a more focused determination to find out what happened and who exactly Eden is. Ty's team quickly figures out there is something going on between Ty and Eden (aka Eddie) and they also she might be of some use to them and their issue with a terrorist they are trying to stop. Ty just has to convince her to help, even if at the same time he wants her out of harm's way.

I really liked Eden's spunk and tenacity. She really reminded me of myself in her no nonsense personality and her speak before you think tendencies. She knows that what the intimidating men are asking her to do will put her and her trained search dog, Tank, in immediate danger but after a couple incidences that would have left her hurt if Ty wasn't there, she decides to help. What she didn't bargain for was her intense attraction to the damaged Ty. Of course for a bit she thinks he is just playing her but realizes that is not the case. She also takes it upon herself to try to help Ty through his issues with his house since it seems to have a stranglehold on his life. I couldn't have picked a better match for Ty.

I kind of touched briefly on the emotional aspect of this story. You know how a lot of authors write something into the story that is believable but it's not one of those situations that tear your heart out? Well Elaine definitely has the emotionally ripping your heart out down pat. We find out exactly what went down in Ty's childhood with his father. I am usually not an emotional person (even at 7 months pregnant as I am now) but I was actually crying when I found out what happened. And then there was a part where Ty knew he had to show his team what happened, oh man! I wanted to lunge into the book and hold Ty tight while rocking him and try to take away those awful memories! Words really can't even describe the horror I felt for him. So if you are ready for some action and to shed some tears, I say read it. Of course if you haven't read the first book, you would need to read it first so you know exactly is going on up to this point. It is not a very good standalone book. But you won't regret reading the first one either. It is beyond awesome also!!!

Military style romantic suspense

So, the second book in the Red Team series and I should mention straight off that this novel doesn't stand alone. You will need to read the first book, The Edge of Courage, to understand what is happening here. If you haven't, I can recommend it. It's a great suspense novel and sets up the action and introduces you to a whole host of mouth-watering alpha heroes!

The battle against the Afghan druglord Amir Hadad wages on and only moves on a little further in this one. Despite the suspense premise, these books are very much character driven and each one tells the story of one of the team finding their forever girl. Perfect romantic suspense, really.

This time, it's the turn of Ty who we left stranded and left for dead in a viper pit at the end of the last book. Lucky for us, he's well trained and resilient enough to get himself out of his predicament and stumbles to the nearest house and bumps into Eden who we'd met briefly in the last book. She's in trouble and he helps her and her friends out but she and her sniffer dog Tank have become embroiled in the intrigue that surrounds The Red Team and Ty finds he will do anything to protect her.

Ty is a man best by emotional trauma from his past and the fact that his entire team and it's entourage is camped out in his Father's old house (the site of his horrific abuse) is not helping and it will require all of Eden's fierce loyalty and tenderness to finally allow him to exorcise those demons and move on with her.

Ty is a great hero, he's very alpha, growly and protective (just the way I like `em) and Eden is a steadfast and sweet heroine. They go well together and it was lovely to see Ty's growing attachment to her that he couldn't resist however hard he tried.

I love the whole setup of the Red Team and really enjoy the brotherly camaraderie between them all and there is a whole host of potential book boyfriends here. I am hoping that the next book will tell the story of high-school sweethearts Kit and Ivy and I'm also looking forward to Fiona and Kelan's story. It's good to catch up with Mandy and Rocco after the dramas of their story in the first book and, after reading this one, they're still my favourite couple to date of the series. I'm most looking forward to Val finding a woman - he's got quite the cheeky swagger and tempts me the most out of all of them.

Despite being set very much in the present, I got a strange old-fashioned vibe from reading this. There's something about the townsfolk objecting to their presence with felt olde worlde to me - I could imagine them all descending on Ty's Ranch with blazing torches and pitchforks ready to drive them out of town. Also Ty tells Eden a story about the time he was on military duty near a castle in Germany and that absolutely felt like an old 1930's black and white Hollywood horror movie. I half expected Bela Lugosi or Boris Karloff to overact their way onto the page!

While Ty and Eden's story was sweet, I didn't actually feel the same chemistry or connection I did with Mandy and Rocco but that's not enough to stop me from continuing with the series. I definitely will and I'm very much looking forward to the next book.
