This book gets a little tedious towards the middle because the author dwells too much ...

This is the story of Isabelle D'Este of Mantua whose brother-in-law Ludovico Sforza robbed her son of his inheritance, and became Duke of Milan at the death of Isabella's husband. Ludovico in turn was conquered and imprisoned by France.
This book describes the frivolous lifestyle of the rulers and their wives in the the city-states which is now Italy.
Even with the catastrophe of Ludovico's loss of Milan, and the death of Isabelle's sister Beatrice, Isabelle asked the enemy if she could have her deceased sister's clavichord, and some paintings that Leonardo DaVinci had painted for her sister. The irony is that she asked the French, who had conquered Milan!
This book gets a little tedious towards the middle because the author dwells too much on Isabelle's possesions; such as paintings, statuary, tapestries, etc. Too much uninteresting detail.
I was also disappointed in all the typing errors, which made the book difficult to read.

Difficult to read, thought it was more a biography, but it really is just a book of her correspondence.
