About the Author

Jeannie launched her writing career in 1998 with a co-authored children’s book

from Multnomah Press that was a finalist for the Gold Medallion Award. Since its release, she has signed contracts with eight publishers, and her writing has appeared in several magazines and short story collections. You can find fourteen books by her – adult-level books on the subject of prayer, children’s picture books, and a youth novel – in bookstores around the world. Three more books are already completed and waiting at the publisher for a 2006 release and she is currently preparing to fulfill another six book contracts.

In 2003 Jeannie’s focus took an unexpected turn when two publishers asked her to illustrate for them. Her first written and illustrated children’s book Am I Praying?, Kregel, August 2003, was a finalist for the 2004 Gold Medallion Award. Kregel featured a miniature golf course based on the book’s characters at the 2004 Christian Booksellers Convention in Atlanta. Jeannie has illustrated eleven books and is currently working on her twelfth.

Early in 2004, a series of brief radio spots on prayer that Jeannie wrote and recorded began airing on an American Family Radio station in Dothan, Alabama.

Gifts she designs for Mt. Baker Trading Company can be found in Christian bookstores and on the Internet. Her Prayer Stones have been reordered several times and all royalties from them go to an orphanage in Mexico.

In February 2006 she wrote and illustrated No Ordinary Woman, a make-you-cry booklet intended to convince women of their incredible value. Because she self-published it to keep costs low, it is available only by contacting her directly.

A professional artist as well as a writer, illustrator, and teacher, Jeannie’s paintings have hung in several galleries in Oregon and even traveled to Texas for a special museum show. Jeannie travels around the states speaking to women’s groups and schools. In her spare time, she works as a private investigator for Taylor Made Financial Investigations, a company owned by her husband Ray, a retired Federal Criminal Investigator.

Born and raised in the Midwest, Jeannie earned a degree in Elementary Education from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois, then moved to Oregon to teach art and English in the small town of Yamhill. Jeannie’s education continued in Portland, Oregon with a Masters Degree from Lewis and Clark College as well as an extra year of art credits from Portland Community College and Portland State University. She lives with her husband of twenty-nine years, ten minutes from downtown Portland, Oregon on a five-acre cattle farm surrounded by subdivisions. She and Ray have three grown children.

What happened

My 4 and 6 year old enjoyed the book. They just wanted to know what was so bad. What was so bad that a child would think that thier mother would not love them anymore. We would have given a better rating if we knew what was so bad.

Book Review: You Wouldn't Love Me If You Knew RECOMMENDED

It is not uncommon people sometime in their adult life to do something that they feel is so bad that it is nearly impossible to speak it out loud. There are also the instances when a person has not been the wrongdoer, but still inappropriately places shame and blame within their spirit.

What we can forget is that this also happens to children. We shouldn't wait until a situation arises to talk about such times. I believe that parents and educators--both in church and school, need to bring the subject to the foreground. This most likely at some point with the use of this book enable a child who has been carrying a weighted load to seek forgiveness.

I am not surprised that the little boy in the story had to whisper what had happened in his mother's ear. There are some problems so personal that even do that may be too difficult, and it will be God only to whom we speak.

Lastly, whether we know or do not know what it was that the child did, is not the issue at hand. The reader should notice that the boy is not even given a name other than "boy." What the story addresses is the shame and guilt, and need for forgiveness. I believe that NOT knowing may reach even more children than if we did know what the boy did wrong.

Children--actually, even adults, who read this story who are in a similar situation can then more easily place themselves in the position in which the boy finds himself, and receive permission to forgive themselves.

When a young boy does something he regrets, he tries to make amends by smothering those he loves with "good works". Nothing makes him feel better till he confides in his mother and she forgives him and reminds him that God forgives him as well. All children want to know what he did but the author skillfully leaves this open for individual interpretation. This is sure to become one of the most loved Christian childrens book in modern times!

This book is so informative and the pictures are AMAZING!! Everything you need to know about common skin infections all the way to rare life-threatening infections including MRSA, HPV, and Herpes Simplex. This book is worth every penny to have as a reference for every medical student, nurse and practicing physician!!

Excellent reference for practicing physicians

This book is an informative and well organized review of common and rare skin infections. I am a practicing surgical pathologist in a large tertiary care medical center. I find it to be an extremely useful reference in my daily practice, especially evaluating biopsies from patients in our cancer, transplant, gynecologic and infectious disease centers.

This book really kept me going.. Once I started reading it,I didn't wasn't to put it down..The Church is full of saints and sinners... What's important is for us as Christian's have to stay focused and listen to what God is saying to us... Just as Cliff and Destiny did....

Read both books this and Destiny's Secret. Thought they were both excellent reads. Great read for christian women. Shows that with true love and God's grace all thing are possible. A great lesson in forgiveness. Will be looking for other works by this author. Absolutely loved it.
